Corcelles: here we go!

Corcelles: here we go!

4 Jul 2024 | Dijonnais

After weeks of waiting for favorable weather, it was on June 19th that the planting of the Corcelles plot, on the heights of Dijon, began!

Endless Autumn

With this autumn never ending, working the soils of the plot in Corcelles-Les-Monts, a few kilometers from the city center of Dijon, was a real challenge!

We began the work with the crushing of the barley shoots at the beginning of October, followed by a spreading of composted manure over the 6 ha of the plot and a scraping to aerate the soils, heavily compacted by agricultural practice (compaction, little life underground). October 15th marked the start of the rainy season and work was stopped apart from a few one-off actions such as tracing the contours of the plot and paths in January.

We had noticed 3 types of soils found on the plot, both by observing the vegetation present and by taking surveys in different places. We therefore chose to clearly separate these three zones in order to cultivate different rootstocks on each. We have chosen to be supported by Mercier nurseries.

Planting finally begins!

The first plants were planted by the l’entreprise Genelot Genelot company team on June 19. Planting by machine allows you to plant the grafts with long roots for better rooting as well as to plant a protective stake for the plant while watering the plant. To date, 2.6 ha of pinot noir are already planted, for the remaining 60 ha at the bottom of the plot they require more soil preparation to crush the slabs present.
