The renaissance of the vineyard
The renaissance of the vineyard
From the 14th century to the end of the 17th century, the “vin de creu du Dijonnoiz” produced in the city was renowned and featured on fine dining tables, particularly those of the Dukes of Burgundy, who significantly contributed to its fame. However, after 1,500 years of history between the city and the vine, the metropolitan vineyard gradually disappeared from the territory due to the effects of phylloxera at the end of the 19th century and significant urbanization needs. For several years now, the Dijon metropolis, in collaboration with a group of winemakers organized into an association, has embarked on a strategy to revive its vineyard. A dossier has recently been submitted to the INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality) to obtain a complementary geographic denomination “Bourgogne Dijon” within the Bourgogne AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée).

Our plot, located in the commune of Corcelles-les-Monts, overlooks the Metropolis. Six hectares will be planted with Pinot Noir in spring 2024 and Chardonnay in 2025.
The vineyard will be managed using agroforestry practices: various fruit tree species will be planted on the plot starting in autumn 2024.
This line of trees has numerous benefits for us:
- Ecological: by creating corridors, especially for bats that feed on certain vine predators, and by creating pockets of coolness.
- Agronomic: by slowing down the drying winds from the southwest.
- Aesthetic: by breaking the monotony of the plain landscape.
Experiments with plant covers and insect counts will be conducted on the plot in collaboration with the Dijon Metropolis and INRA.
